Growing a Greener Heart

Sit or stand comfortably in a quiet place, indoors or out of doors. Or, if you find yourself at work, step into the bathroom and do this in private. It only takes a moment. Get creative with giving yourself permission to take time to notice how your body feels during the day. Often, our bodies become ill when we lose connection with what they are telling us.

Notice your breath. Watch how it moves from your nostrils down into your belly, your ribs, and your chest. Simply allow your breath to move in and out of your body.  If your mind wanders to other things, return to your breath. Our minds are very busy and they think a lot. Give yourself permission to be still for a minute or two, longer if you wish.

Notice the heartbeat. Notice the pulse in your hands. Notice the breath and it’s movement. In and out.

Soften the shoulders and let them fall away from your neck. Breathe. Listen to your heart.

If you like, imagine your breath is moving and out of your heart, your life force.

Place your hand above your chest so that you can feel the warmth of your body on your hand. Feel the energy of your heart. Consider someone you love deeply, who loves you. Focus on your heartbeat, radiating kindness and love. Breathe.

When you are ready, return your attention to whatever is present. What are you most grateful for, in this present moment?
